Digital Imaging and Scanning

In traditional dentistry, tooth and jaw measurements are taken with dough in metal spoons in procedures such as prosthesis, coating and filling. However, this method may trigger the gag reflex in patients and the measurement taken does not always give accurate results. In digital dentistry, teeth are scanned with an optical camera and transferred to the computer environment in 3D. This process is possible with digital impression and scanning systems.

What is Digital Imaging and Scanning ?
Digital impression is a system that enables teeth to be made suitable for the mouth with intraoral scanners and millimetric measurement possibilities in dentistry. In this application, measurements are taken with camera systems and similar applications. Especially with the use of intraoral cameras, usage advantages are obtained.

What are Intraoral Camera and Digital Imaging and Scanning Stages ?
The stages are as follows :
• The patient's oral cavity is visualised with a scanner camera and three-dimensional measurements are taken.
• The three-dimensional visual model taken in accordance with the measurements is transferred to the computer environment with the scanner camera.

Measurements created with a three-dimensional intraoral model displayed in a computer environment eliminate the margin of error. With this process, the margin of error in intraoral impression taking is reduced to 1/1000. In this way, it is ensured that design models that fit perfectly into the mouth and teeth are created in prosthesis applications. Therefore, digital impression and scanning systems are the most ideal impression taking method for both the most appropriate impression and the comfort of the patient.
